The mammalogy collection includes more than 7,000 specimens and is made up of skins, skulls or complete skeletons, and to a lesser extent, materials preserved in fluids. It essentially protects materials from species native to Argentina; The best represented province is Buenos Aires, from which around 50% of the preserved specimens come. Regarding the taxonomic representation, the collection contains all the orders currently recognized for Argentina. Rodents constitute the largest group, followed in descending order by bats, carnivores, marsupials and xenarthrans, among others.
